Another First Last.....And a Spectacular Tennis Match

So yesterday was first in a series of firsts lasts for us, now that Graduation is less than two weeks away. WOW!!

Yesterday was Dak's last High School Choir Awards, and he had a tennis match going on at the same time. They moved his match to the first sets, so he could make it. He made it, just about the closing time, but he still had fun. I accepted his blue ribbon for the 1 he got at SWCL in his ensemble, and he recieved a gift because he is a Senior and this is his last year of HS Choir.

Here he is.....

Isn't he sweet?!!

Here is Alyssa, receiving her 1 ribbon too.

She cracks me up. Mrs. Nelson (the music teacher) asked the Seniors to fill out a questionaire that she would read at the Spring Concert (which didn't happen because she decided it was time to have her little one =) and so she read them here, and at the end of the questionaire she asks the kids what their future plans were and if they were headed to college what their major would be, and Alyssa said she would be majoring in Power Ranging!!! hahaha She cracks.me.up.

Goofy girl!!

And this is our girl Trisha, who got the Sightreading Award. The girl's got skill!!

And this is Mrs. Nelson. She has been an amazing Music teacher and took this program places that our school hasn't seen in 7 years with a 1 at the State Competition!! Great job Mrs. Nellie (as the kids call her), and congrats on sweet Lliam. What a cutie!!!

This was their amazing cake!!! It had a picture of all the students on it, being wild and crazy, of course =) Dak is at the top with something white in his mouth. I don't want to know =)

Before the Awards Ceremony, Dak had a Tennis Match, against a very tough team.

And.....

HE WON!!! 9-7 ~~ I missed the last half of the match, because I went to get his stuff at awards, but I hear he did REALLY good. He has improved his game so much this year.

And what would a post be without Sir Cuteness getting his sweet little face in there somewhere? =) Here he is with a blueberry chin ~~ sweetest blueberry chin I've ever seen =)

So my sweet Dak is hilarious!!! And here is just a little more proof of that......

Have a Blessed day ~~

Nest Swap 2011 ~~

Good Monday Morning Friends ~~
Last December I participated in a "Joy Swap" over at Monica's and it was so wonderful to meet a new friend and Bless her with goodies. So when Monica hosted another swap I so wanted to be a part of it. So I was a part of the Nest Swap earlier this month.

Let me start out by apologizing to Crystal my swap buddy for not getting this post up last Monday, but with mom's recent health issues, I have not been home very much.

So here is what I sent to sweet Crystal..... It was so much fun putting this together, because Crystal lives in the Northwest, which I no NOTHING about, so it was fun getting to know her, and putting together this fun box, complete with Cadbury Mini-Eggs, flower seeds, a bird chime, a fun HUGE pencil, and a mini-scrapbook that I made just for her with our "Nest" theme. It was so much fun!!!

And she Blessed me with the sweetest goodies. (Please forgive my messy table....I am SO far behind and Dak's party is THIS WEEKEND.....breathe....it will get done girl.....BREATHE =)
anyway....

See all these goodies? And yep, Sir Cuteness is right in the middle of it. Now isn't that right where a 2 year old is suppose to be? =)

She sent me:
A Beautiful Box that has a magnetic closure on it, so cute ~~
Homemade Hot Chocolate....I had some yesterday....SO yummy ~~
Marshmallows in the shape of bunnies.....oh.my.stars. SO cute ~~
Coconut chocolate clusters from Russel Stovers ~~ YUM!! ~~
2 knitted pot holders ~~ she knit herself....LOVE ~~
A "Sweet Song Bird" scrapbook stamp ~~ I will putting that to good use ~~

And a sweet handwritten card ~~ LOVE~!!

Have you ever? ~~

All of my sweet goodies ~~ thank you SO much Crystal!!!!!

Sir Cuteness checking it out~~~

And let me wrap up with a couple of pics of my sweet Dak.
Here he is yesterday ready to go to his dad's. Then they were headed to his Great Granny Maxine's Visitation.

He is so sweet ~~ I love him so!!!

Yep that is my unmade bed. Did I mention how far behind I am in the housework dept? =)

But he is cute, unmade bed and all =)

He is missing school today. His Granny's Funeral is at 10:00 AM. If you think of him today, please say a prayer for my tender-hearted boy. This has been so hard on him.

Thank you for your prayers and love for our family ~~

Have a Blessed day ~~

Sunday Letters ~~

My Dear Dak,

What a difficult week it has been for you. It went from being extremely busy, to being extremely sad. I am so sorry son.

On Thursday morning, your Great Granny Maxine was on her way to get groceries, when she had a car accident and passed away. I know this is so sad and heart breaking for you. But you have some amazing friends and family that have helped you work things out in the last few days. I love you so, my sweet boy, we will get through this together.

So today is your Granny's visitation and then tomorrow the funeral. You are such a strong man, my son. Hang in there.

***********************

One week from today is your Graduation Party. We are SO excited!! I am really looking forward to seeing people love on you and wish you much much happiness in your future. Really happy for you!!!

You have exciting things happening at school....yep, some more firsts lasts =)

I love you son for always ~~ mom

***********************

My Sweet Sir Cuteness,

You are the cutest darn thing!!! You make us laugh and smile every.single.day. And sometimes your sweetness is just overwhelming. You have such a kind heart.

The other night, me, you and your papa, were laying in bed and it was thundering outside. You aren't to crazy about thunder. Well, your papa told you that you had nothing to worry about, he'd protect and take care of you. So you put your arm under my head and pulled me onto your shoulder and said, "And I'll protect gamma". You are THE sweetest!!!

I Love you to the moon, Moon, MOON ~~ Gamma

*******************************

My Mr. Winslow,

I'm so sorry you are not feeling well. I will be glad when you are back to your energetic self. This week has been hard I know, with me being gone so much at mom's, but you are such a trooper. Thank you for ALL of your help.

You are my hero.

I love you so ~~ Petrii

Update on Mom and SSMT #8

WOW it has been a fast moving and changing few days. On Thursday, my baby sis and I took my mom to her new oncologist. The Oncologist mom has had for years retired, and so we have a new one. Dr. W is so sweet and from Johannesburg, South Africa and has a lovely accent. We really like her. While we were there, they did the routine blood work, weight and vitals, and found that mom's heart was only beating 40 beats per minute. Of course, this was very concerning as it was a new symptom. So in a whirlwind of events, she was admitted to the hospital. I stayed with her the first night, expecting a pacemaker surgery Friday morning, but at about 10:30 PM the nurse came in and said that mom was in A-Fib and that she had called the cardiologist and our primary care, because her blood pressure had also gone through the roof, but her heart was still only beating between 38-44 bpm. It was so strange. Well, the doc came in the next morning and said that they were holding off on the pacemaker until they got the test results back from the echocardiagram. He told us her AV node was plaqued and that may require a new valve, which would have not been good at all, as that is open heart surgery. But he came in later and told us that the AV node had changed (in two years), but at this time would not require surgery, but would continue to deteriorate. But we deal with now right? Yep, so we did and she was taken into surgery about 4:40 pm on Friday and the pacemaker was put in, and her heart immediately responded and is now beating between 60 - 70 bpm. That is good news, but the best news in all this came yesterday when the PA came in and told us that the pacemaker was also taking care of the A-Fib so no blood thinners right now. YAY!!! So happy!! Well, for a month someone will have to stay with her 24/7, and as a family, we are working this out, so if you don't see me a lot on here for a little while, know that I miss you and love you and will try to keep you updated and post some fun graduation happenings. And we'd sure appreciate your prayers for our sweet mother Christine, and also for us, her kiddos, my brother Rusty and sisters Rhonda and Dena and myself for wisdom and strength. We get along really well, and for that I am so thankful. We are all on the same page with mom's care, and know that we may have to make some hard decisions regarding that, in the not so distant future. But we are holding on to the One who loves us the most. ************************************************** Well, Friday was also the 15th and time for a new SSMT #8. WOW!! Well, I had another verse picked out, but it just doesn't seem like the one for this time. And the LORD has laid this verse on my heart for some time and I've quoted it right along with my other ones now for weeks, so time to make it official. Jonah 2:8 "Those who cling to worthless idols, forfeit the grace that could be theirs." Thank you so much for your sweet comments and prayers. They are of great strength to me right now. Love you so ~~ Oh one more thing..... do you remember my SSMT #7 "(She) He will have no fear of bad news; (her) his heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD." Yep He knew exactly what I would need. Love you so ~~

Please Pray

Please pray for my sweet mama Christine. She has been admitted into the hospital with her heart. Their thinking probably pacemaker. It has been such a stressful day for her. Her heart is only beating 40 bpm. Thanks so much for your prayers.

Woven.....

As I sit here this morning contemplating this new chapter God has me in, in my life right now, one word is coming to mind.....woven.

I have been studying in one particular chapter in God's Word, but it is taking me to so many different places in the Word to understand another part of Scripture. I love that!! God has so beautifully woven together His Word from Genesis to Revelation, and all of God's Word points to Christ. It is so beautiful.

There is a song that has been going through my heart and mind for several days. It is Casting Crowns "Blessed Redeemer".

As we prepare our hearts for Easter, God has laid this song on my heart and also "Glorious Day" by Casting Crowns as well. These songs are so dear to me and they are getting lots of play time on my Pod.

I think of how God has so sweetly woven my life. Through periods of pain, hardship and just straight-up disobedience, God has been there. He knows me in ways that no one else ever could, because you see, He knit me, wove me togther in my mother's womb. I have no doubt that I am fearfully and wonderfully made, and I hope you know that too.

I hope you know how much God esteems you. He loves you so. He sent His only Son to die for you. That is how much He loves you child. Bask in His love today, knowing that you are woven, knit together by Him for a specific purpose. That is what I am basking in today.

"Blessed Redeemer
Precious Redeemer
Seems now I see Him
On Calvary's tree
Wounded and bleeding
For sinner's pleading
Blind and unheeding
Dying for me....."

I love you so ~~ have a Blessed day,

Are you suppose to be playing tennis or looking at your mother? hmmm.....

So at the beginning of the 2nd Semester, Dak changed his schedule from Life Sports to Art IV first hour.

I was a tad concerned, because this is the FIRST Art Class Dak has taken in High School.

THE FIRST.

He had to go to the teacher and be accepted into the class, and Mr. Schmidt waved the prerequiste requirements (Art I, II & III) and allowed him to go right into Art IV.

At first it was an adjustment for him, but when I talked to Mr. Schmidt at P/T conferences, he assured me he was doing fine. And then when we got his report card he had an A in that class.

I was one impressed and proud mama, but the proof's in the pudding, right? (What does that saying even mean? =)

So here's some of the pudding.....

This is an art project he is working on right now, so it is not complete.

He had to draw half of a face of a friend or family member and then the other half and rest of the picture had to be filled with the things that person is into or loves.

So he chose his friend Alex (NOT HIS MOTHER....it's okay....I'm.not.bitter. =)

And RJ, for some reason I think Ricky will really like it.

So you may have to click on the picture to really see it good, but the half Alex is in the center and then there is RadioHead Album cover pictures on the right and the Joker, from Batman on the left.

I thought when he said Joker he meant from a deck of cards, since there is a house of cards on the bottom of the pic, but no he meant the actual Joker from the movie.

Here is a close up.

I know, the Joker looks creepy, but the Joker is creepy right?

And what has really impressed me about this is the picture of the Joker he drew is a pic he has on his IPOD. How crazy is that?

I think I'd need a lifesize pic (not that I would want one) in order to draw it correctly....

anyway....

I'm looking so forward to showing you more of his artwork.

And he made the hall.

That is a GREAT accomplishment!!!

If your artwork is good enough it goes in to the Hall of Art at school.

(That's what I call it anyway....catchy huh? =)

I don't know which one made it, because I have yet to see a finished project, but he assures me he gets them all back at the end of school.

YAY!!! Yep I'll be sharing more.....

Now onto a little tennis, shall we?

The boy is tearing it up this year.

Last year, it was our first year as a school to have tennis, and it was a tough year.

But this year, Dak has set it on fire!!!

The boy is fierce!!

And skinny.....that's another story.

Maybe I need to take up tennis.

anyway....

So here he is.....

My sweet.....

Nice.....

Tennis playing boy.....

Okay, or not!!!

Son, aren't you suppose to be PLAYING tennis and NOT sticking your tongue out at your mother?

Yes this is DURING a match.

I bet the coach LOVED this!!

I am probably on the list as one of THOSE mother's now.

Thanks son =)

The funny thing is, I didn't even know he did this until I put them on the computer.

So funny.

Oh, and RJ, again this picture reminds me of Ricky.

This is no ordinary stick-your-tongue-out-at-your-mother kind of thing.

This is a ROCKER in your face kind of stick your tongue out at your mother kind of thing.

Silly kid =)

But he did end up playing tennis..... Look at this form.....
And check out this serve.....

Yep, the boy can draw and play some tennis.....

And sing, and drive his mama crazy.....

Oh, now that's another story for another day ......

Love you ~~

My Heart: A little exposed.....

So today I am tender, my heart feels a little more exposed. Maybe it's the project I'm working on, or maybe it's the fact that one month from today my baby; the one in this picture, will be graduating from High School. This picture was taken the day I took my sweet babe home from the hospital. In the picture with me is my newphew Adam. I love this picture. So many things run through my mind when I look at it. Most of all, the look on my face, I still have it. When I look at him, this is the way that I feel. This wee babe I'm holding has grown more precious to me with every passing day. Even today in an especially hard season, he is still my baby, the boy you see in this pic....... Yes that is really me....I used to be a big girl...........I'm thankful to have been able to lose over 100 lbs and keep it off, but that is another story for another day..... This sweet boy is the one with such a tender place for his nephew, Sir Cuteness.....he is great with him, and loves him like no other....it is a special relationship.....
This child right here will be graduating in one month. A month from today I can imagine my heart will be even more tender, but I'm sure more excited than I even am today.

The prom shopping commences soon, the Grad Party invites will go out this week, the Graduation Announcements will go out next week, and the Grad Party preparations have started in earnest. All for this boy, the tall one with the great backhand and awesome stride. The one with the best smile and sweetest hugs......The one that sings so sweetly and loves so deeply.....Yep this boy right here.....my baby.....always my baby.

So today I feel a little tender, a little exposed, a little bare in the heart department. I will be sharing more about this boy in the coming weeks leading up to graduation. I want you to see some of the fun we have had over the years. Some of the funny things he's told his momma. Some of the craziness that is our current season. And his plans for the future, including college fare and other goodies.

I'd like to leave you with another reason my heart is a little tender today, we found out last week, that Dak won the Clever Athletic Booster Scholarship!! I'm so proud of him!!! This all just leaves me a little tender, a little open, and yes, a little exposed.

Love you Dak ~~

Sunday Letters ~~ What a $1.25 will buy these days ~~

My Dear Dak,

You are rocking the tennis courts this season!!! You went undefeated and took home FIRST PLACE ~~ Yep totally rocking the tennis court....you go John Dak =)

You said, "no more pictures gamma!!" hahahahahahahaha

And here you are with one of the bigger mushrooms.....

Oh my Sweet Mr. Winslow,

We had so much fun this week taking Sir Cuteness mushroom hunting. He is so funny isn't he?

Yep we love him so!!!

You have built him such a wonderful Jungle Gym, and Sir Cuteness loves it so much. You got the tarp on it this week and now you will start working on the swing.

You are my hero.

You have helped me Spiritually in so many ways this week. Teaching me so much about life in the Spirit, and helping me to grow more and more in the Lord; helping me to let go of my selfish self and to hold on to Jesus when things are hard. You are, my dear, the best.

I love you so ~~ Petrii

Random Friday ~~ Complete with Pictures =)

Well hello there friends~~

No I have not dropped off the face of the bloggy world =)

We've been SO busy around here that I've hardly had time to write my own blog or to visit yours.

And this weekend may not be any better, as mushrooms may be up and you know how we LOVE to mushroom hunt.

Anyway......

Let's get to some randomness, shall we?

WARNING: THERE ARE 35 PICTURES IN THIS POST!!! So grab you some sweet tea and enjoy =)

*******************************

I have been involved in another swap over at Homespun Heart.

I did the Joy Swap around CHRISTmas time, and enjoyed it so much,

that when it came time for this swap, I was all in.

This time it was a Nest Swap, and my Swap Buddy this time was Crystal from Washington.

This is really all I can show you today because she is receiving her goodies today,

and I don't want to spoil it in case she stops by =)

But I wanted to show you just the cover of this cute mini.

This one I made out of file folders again and it turned out SO cute.

I used a paper pack from K & CO and LOVED it.

Got the paper 1/2 price at Hobby Lobby, love that too =)

So this is the cover ~~

Okay, so I guess I'm showing the inside page too =)

This is after you open the "Bless Our Nest" flap.....

On Wednesday, one of my favorite teenagers (besides Dak, of course =) had her 18th birthday.

So I decided with her gift I would make her a mini.

This is the girl that I took to get Senior Pics, which by-the-way are absolutely beautiful~~

Alyssa is such a special girl. She has a very special place in my heart.

Dak was the only child I was able to have, and I so wanted more.

But God knows best and I have peace about it, but I still love me some girls =)

As you know, I have a son, 2 stepsons and a grandson, so when I get a little

girl time, it is special, and Alyssa provides that for me.

I get to spoil her and she doesn't mind at all =)

Well, I have been looking up on youtube some more techniques and had found one on

paperbag minis. I was intrigued and decided I'd give it a try.

So the base of this mini is entirely out of paperbags.

Here is the cover......

(Oh and it is also made out of a paper pack; not K & Co, but another I got with a 40% off coupon at Hobby Lobby. I do love me some HL sales =)

anyway.....

the cover.....

With the paper bag minis, each side has slots that you can put tags or more pictures in or just whatever you want.

Well I decided to make more places for pictures, so I made picture mats out of file folders and covered them with the signature paper I got for her mini.

I LOVE this style of mini!!!

Side note: I call her baby girl ~~ she loves it that I do ~~ I love her ~~

what a special girl she is .....

Her and Dak, of course.....

And I loved the element on this flap. When you do a mini like this you end up with flaps on each page ~~ so fun!! So you cover those with paper as well and then can add elements like this cute clock. This girl has S-T-Y-L-E like no other girl I know!!
Her and Dak will be going to the same college next fall.

They are hoping to get in dorms close to each other.

I hope they do too.

They are such good friends and they've been through a lot together in high school to test that friendship.

They are so sweet together!!!

And here is one of her Senior Pics.

Just a little sneak peek for you =)

Just wanted to show you some of the elements I added.

This is some ribbon through hole punches.

Such an easy and quick way to add some beautiful pop to a page, especially a pull-out page.

*****************

Okay so let's switch gears.....

Here is Dak on the day of our visit back to MSU to visit their business department.

He was so nervous and happy.....

Here he is at our favorite McAlister's.

Drinking his fav......Sweet Tea ~~
Sweet Boy ~~ He is just gonna rock the business world!!!

Okay, so I do not know what in the wide world I am doing here, other than being my typical, goofy self =)

Dak says this is a sweet picture.....

I'll go with that =)

And here he is enjoying dessert.....

CHEESECAKE!!!!!

For the record, I am not a fan, but he sure enjoyed it =)

See......

Hahahahahahahahahah...........

And my dessert of choice.....

Peanut Butter Cookie!!

If you have not had a McAlister's cookie, oh you must ~~

You SERIOUSLY must!!!

SO good!!!!!

I.don't.know.

WOW it is a good thing this is Random Friday.....

Obviously I had some catching up to do.....

*****

Sir Cuteness and I made Double Chocolate Chip Muffins

and here he is enjoying the fruit of his mixing labor =)

Yes that is garlic salt in my hand and no that did not make it into the muffins =)

Why do I have garlic salt in my hand?

anyway.....

*****

My neighbor asked me one day last week, if I'd like a tree clipping from one of her willows.

I told her sure.

So she brought it over when I was leaving one day, so this weekend I decided to find that tree so we could get it planted.

Well I looked and couldn't see it.

Well, while I was riding my bike up and down our street,

I looked at the side of our house and still didnt' see it........

until..........

I looked at my neighbor's privacy fence and TIED to it was my CLIPPING.

Here it is. Is that amazing or what?

How did I NOT see this tree?

My neighbor is a Master Gardner and can grow dirt, literally.

She is a compost woman.

She threw some clippings in her compost last spring when she clipped hers back,

and she had trees that sprung from those clippings. TREES PEOPLE.

This is growth from JUST LAST SPRING.

Amazing!!!

She assures me it will only get 2 ft taller and then start braching out around.

And I can clip the twirly brances and make arrangements with them.

How fun is that?

Thanks N!!!

Oh and BIG happenings around here in the Sir Cuteness department.

Papa has been building him a Jungle Gym. I mean from scratch.

My husband is a master at welding. He is a production manager at a welding shop and is just a genius at it.

He has made us a leg press machine and a shoulder machine and dumbbells and various and sundry other things,

and he made his own wedding ring.

I'm telling you the man is a metal genius.

It truly is astounding what he is able to do with metal.

Well, instead of spending about $1200.00 on a jungle gym, he decided to build one.

The top is all steel and the swing set that comes out of the side will also be made out of metal.

It will have pegs on the climbing wall, a swing set and monkey and chin up bar (for my man =) when it is all complete. YAY!!!

But here's what he has so far.....

There is still a lot of work to be done, but it is coming along nicely.

And Sir Cuteness is LOVING IT!!!!!

He calls it his treehouse.

So cute!!!!!!!!!!!

The slide....

Slides are expensive.....just sayin'.....

And this my friends, is what we call a REALLY bad idea!!!

Me, my bad knees and Sir Cuteness going down the slide.

With my Mr. Winslow helping to catch us.

Yes, before you ask.......

I was in some knee pain after my adventures of this day.....

but it was SO worth it!!!!!

And I just had to add this.....

This was Sir Cuteness in the car the other day.....

I LOVE his sun glasses =)

*****

Okay and back to scrapbooking projects for just a minute.....

yes I know VERY random, even for Random Friday =)

Dak got Alyssa some kickin' earrings for her birthday,

and so I decorated her bag for him.....

LOVED how this turned out!!!

These again are papers from the pack from her mini.....

And I added a prima flower at the bottom.....

SO CUTE!!!!!

And here is my logo.....

At least for now.....

What do you think?

My mom always has called me her sunrise...

get it Dawn = sunrise :)

So I wanted to include that in my logo and name and here is what I have come up with so far.....

I'd love to hear your ideas and what you think about it ~~

I have several different colors.

Well, there you have it.....

My VERY Random Friday =)

Have a Blessed weekend,
